Dorroughby hosted a wonderful Teacher PD on 8ways Indigenous Pedagogy

15 teachers attended a fabulous 8ways Pedagogy Workshop facilitated by  Bilyana Noel Blomeley, Aboriginal Education and Community Engagement Officer on Tuesday July 26. The first day of this two day workshop introduced the 8ways Pedagogy to local teachers giving examples of how to implement the 8ways Pedagogy framework into planning and teaching and supporting teachers to include Aboriginal perspectives by using Aboriginal learning techniques.

The second workshop will be on Tuesday 30th August (Week 7) in term 3 following up how the teachers have implemented some of the 8 ways strategies.

Some participants chose to stay overnight in our lovely accommodation at Dorroughby EEC. A yummy dinner was shared to the sound of guitars gently strumming under the twinkling stars and a puppet show was performed by the light of the fire. Early morning risers also watched platypus swim in the calm waters of the dam next door to the centre. The workshop kicked off after a welcome to country and before long everyone was buzzing with great ideas for how to implement their new pedagogy into their schools. music at 8ways

The supportive collegial spirit will grow in the months to follow as teachers work together on improving learning for their students. For more info on 8 Ways look at their wiki space: 8 ways

Dorroughby looks forward to hosting more Professional development days such as this in the future.
