Dorroughby EEC held a platypus awareness day for student leaders on the 26th June. Students learnt about issues involved in protecting platypus for the future and planned how to convey these messages to fellow students. Activities included water testing, spotting platypus in the local dam, art and informative displays. Guests included Barbara from ROUS Water, Dierdre from Dept Primary Industries, Vanessa from Lismore Council, Sheldon, a Widjubul elder and platypus conservationist Cathie Williams form the Central Coast NSW. Cathie has been busy organising the Platypus Action Conservation Team (PACT) that has become a state wide program.
